Over the past 30 years of pouring concrete, I have found the best clothing and shoes to wear while pouring concrete. There are many things you need to consider when choosing what to wear-

  • Flexibility (you need full range of motion while working)
  • Breathable (on hot summer days you do not want to overheat)
  • Protection (protect yourself from the concrete)
  • Temperature / Season

Safety gear

It is important to wear the proper clothing while pouring concrete to insure your safety. If your bare skin is exposed to concrete, it can burn you. That is why I always make sure to wear some sort of long sleeve and long pants while pouring concrete. Here are some other safety gear I use:

I have been pouring concrete for over 30 Maine winters now. If you are not from Maine, let me tell you the winters here are BRUTAL! Here are my go-to clothing items to wear to stay warm in the freezing temperatures:

It is important to wear the correct footwear when pouring concrete. Always wear rubber boots while working in the concrete. Afterwards, when you begin to finish the concrete, I usually change into sneakers.
