Unheated floor in an ICF basement.

Q. I have a house with an ICF Foundation. There is a concrete floor and I would like to finish the basement. The concrete floor is cold and I am unsure how to finish it. Please advise me. Thanks

A. Concrete stain would be a great solution for your basement floor. We acid stain many finished basement floors. The acid stain creates a terrific mottled effect and some great color variations.

If you want to get creative, you could saw some decorative patterns into the concrete like tiles, diamonds, or a border.

Finish the concrete with a glossy decorative concrete sealer and a coat of wax, this will give it a wet look.
