Hey there,
Just like you, there came a point in my life when I wanted to start my own concrete business.
I'd been working for a small concrete company for about 5 years, from the ages of 16 to 20ish.
I worked summers and school vacations through high school then tried a community college for a year after high school.
I loved working with concrete, it was my passion (and the money was good too!)
After starting college my 2nd year, I quickly figured out it wasn't for me. I wanted to start my own business doing concrete.
I didn't know how to start, but I knew how to pour and finish concrete.
I had a few builders/contractors that knew me from doing small jobs on the side, things like garage slabs, patios, and walkways.
I decided this is what I wanted to do, I didn't know how but I'd figure it out.
I quit college about a month after starting my 2nd year.
Made up some business cards, bought some tools, and declared I was in business for myself!
I had no clue how to start or run a business.
But, I could do the work.
I made all kinds of mistakes my first year, simple things I just didn't know I was supposed to do.
One of the "simplest" things I didn't know I was supposed to do was open a separate business banking account. Wow! did that create a lot of headaches when it came time to do my taxes that year.
There were a bunch of other steps/things I didn't know I had to do in order to start my business properly and be organized.
I learned the hard way.
But eventually I figured it all out and have been running a very successful concrete business for over 40 years.
If you're thinking of starting your own concrete business, I can help you get started on the right track and not make all the mistakes I made my first year.
I can also help you learn how to make good money pouring and finishing concrete.
