Sealer with a radiant heat floor

by Sid

Q. We are interested in sealing our garage floor. However, we have a radiant heat system in the garage. Will a sealer work well in this situation? Is there one sealer that will work best.
Thanks

A. A concrete sealer will work just fine in your situation and is recommended. A penetrating sealer will leave the concrete looking just like it does now. A topical or film-forming sealer will leave a clear coating on the surface. We use both, the film-forming tends to be slippery when it gets wet, but makes cleaning up spills or oil drips easier.

If you are thinking of using an epoxy paint at some point in the near future it would be best to leave it unsealed for now.
