How To Do The Forming And Prep

For A Garage Slab Addition

Mike here,

I was asked by a former customer to install a new 24' x 20' garage slab that connects to a garage slab we installed for them 5 years ago.

This video is part 1 of 3, where I'm going to show you how we do the forming, install styrofoam under the slab, install wire mesh and use a laser level to set the forms to grade.

You'll also see how we drill and pin the two concrete slabs together so one doesn't move higher or lower than the other over time.

Again, this is part 1, part 2 will follow soon and that one will show you how we pour the garage slab.

Part 3 will show you how we power trowel, and saw expansion joints in the slab.

Check out the video below!!

If you missed my last video, I showed you how we pour a new concrete floor inside a four foot frost wall.

This is a common way to pour concrete floors in Maine.

Take a look and let me know if this is how new homes are built this way where you live.
